connecting workgroup pc

Hi All

ok iv got a copple of workgroup pc's that i need to connect to the console (thats on a domain) no i thought if i just give everyone access to the share this should allow the WG pc's to get there updates but when i try and update them manualy they error with could not connect to the server. iv never put sophos into a mixed WG/domain before so im sort of at a loss.

    a mixed WG/domain

    is possible, though it depends on your domain's security settings. You must be able to access the share on the domain from a workgroup endpoint using the credentials in the updating policy. Do the workgroup endpoints access any resources on the domain? If not it might be walled off.

    Anyway, what's the detailed error logged in the ALUpdate log?

    Hi christian

    that could be the problem then after iv restarted the pc i cant access the share on the server even with everyone access setup on it.

    there is no log file or i just cant find it.

    Hello Kurt,

    logfile should be in %ProgramData%\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Logs. Can you access the share from the workgroup computer using a domain admin account?

    Hi christian

    forgot to say there windows XP not 7.

    if i put domain account in to get at the share i can access it but when i did the install i added this info in the box in the install still wont connect so im at a bit of a loss as to why it wont get its updates.

    forget my last just had one of the light bulb moments. corse it dose help IF you put the right spelling in of the password. sutch a dumb ass.
