Building talpa on fedora20 fails

Hi, I've already successfully installed sophos for Linux on my fedora20 system, however, talpa fails. I have kernel-devel installed for my kernel-3.17.6-200.fc20.x86_64. After running configure, I'm trying to build it manually, and it fails with the following:

CC [M] /home/dave/Downloads/sophos-av/sophos-av/talpa/source/talpa-1.18.4/src/app-ctrl/core/talpa-linux/talpa_linux_module.o

I've also included the configure and build output as an attachment here.

Is this a known issue?

I'm trying to install this to be used with the sssp protocol and amavisd-new. Is talpa even necessary?

  • 1.18.4 Talpa is too old to support 3.17 kernels. You'll need to either get a 9.8.* SAV or configure updating to get a more recent version of Talpa to support 3.17.

Fanotify should work fine on Fedora 20.

Either of those is only required for on-access scanning, which it doesn't sound like you'll need if you are only using SAV as a source for libsavi and Threat detection data for savdid.
