Desktop messaging - including links

For Device and Data Control it is possible to put a link (e.g. referring to your site's policy) in the "desktop message" balloon by inserting something like For details please see ACME Policies (while not documented it is also possible for Application Control).

I'd like this feature to be also available for the A-V messages and put in a request during the 9.7 Beta. Either no one else has this need or the existing feature is not (yet) really known - while the suggestion (SUG66595 for those interested) is still "live" it hasn't made it to the upcoming release. So if you would like to see it make yourself heard.

  • Is there anything that needs to be enabled on the Endpoints to get desktop messaging to work?

I have pushed out a test policy to one laptop for device control - wireless block-bridged mode.

This seems to work well and I configured a desktop messaging for this policy saying:

"You are prohibited from connecting to the corporate wireless network whilst you are using the LAN"

On my test laptop I recieved no such pop-up...

  • :smileyvery-happy: nice try ... got me too. Block bridged does not show a message. Sorry, I had to laugh 'cause at first I thought "what can one do wrong here?". But then I noticed block bridged. It's not seen as a policy violation but just a reconfiguration. Try something else (the least harmful is Floppy although I've seen SAV reporting an infected floppy last week).
