Wireless printers blocked by firewall

Hello,

since deploying the firewall we have noticed that wireless printers that home workers have are now being blocked by the firewall, to make matters worse our estate comprises of HPs, Epsons, Brothers and a few Kodaks (inherited from another company), i seem to have solved most of the newer HPs as the need HPNetworkCommunicator.exe to be allowed but i would have thought the others would use the generic spool.exe?

Any advice?

  • Hello BUKtrj,

there is no general solution other than inspecting the logs in order to find out which connections are blocked due to which rules. This is further complicated by the fact that - as you have noticed - the implementation details differ and moreover a devices usable features depend on the available communication method(s).
