Unable to "manually remove virus"

Hi all,

As per subject, I'm unable to manually remove a virus in quarantine.

When I tried to open the location of said virus, I received a message "Error displaying this folder's contents". I then noticed that this alleged virus location was E: indicating it was on a USB hard drive or pendrive. I then inserted this pendrive back into my PC and was now able to open the location of this virus.

However, whenever I try to delete (a la manual) this alleged virus, Sophos keeps on Quaranteeing the item meaning I've gone full circle and am again unable to manually delete this file.

No automatic and no manual, what to do now?!

Thanks for reading and please do help if you can.

  • Hello fnanfne,

delete should work. When you access the location with Explorer (either explicitly or using Open location) you might (depending on your Explorer settings) get an alert. As the file isn't moved it's still possible to right-click and then Shift+Del (or Shift+Selectdelete). BTW - what are the Available options in QM?
