AD forest sync

I like to sync the full forest including subdomains into SEC. Once I sync the root domain I cannot see the synced subdomains. If I try to sync the subdomains to a separate group I'll get an error that it's already synced.

How does a sync setup for a forest including subdomains has to look like.
