Data control on website content?

HI,

I've found this link

http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/63016.aspx

I wondered though if there is any other way to restrict/log when an individual posts monitored contented to a webmail body of text, pastebin, blog etc?  Or is the funcitonality limited to file uploads only?

Thank you in advance

  • Hello Kingshill,

a little bit simplified (Sophos may correct me where I'm wrong): DLP (currently) kicks in when an application (email, browser) opens file with the content in its "canonical" form. Thus neither content that is typed in or pasted from the clipboard nor already encoded stuff can be scanned.

DLP is "just" one part of a (sensible) protection strategy and accompanying measures have to be taken - additional scans on the border/gateway or controlled access to external sites for example.

Please consider taking it to the dedicated Data loss prevention discussion board if you want to discuss this in detail.

    Christian
