Enterprise Console 5.2.0 installation

Hello,

I've been unsuccessfully trying to install Enterprise Console 5.2.0 on a server that appears to have once had an earlier version of your product installed, and perhaps incorrectly removed.

When trying to install the product, I receive the error message: "Sophos Update Manager is already installed. Please uninstall it before continuing."

Sophos Update Manager version 1.4.2.186 does appear in Programs And Features, but when I attempt to uninstall it, I receive the following error message: "Error 25008. WaitOnLockedFile: Cannot open file c:\Program Files(x86)\Sophos\SCC\SUMAdaptor.dll. A Windows API call returned error 3". The file does not exist in the specified folder (the folder c:\Program Files(x86)\Sophos doesn't even exist).

Please advise.

  • Hello rgrisamer,

... Sophos\SCC\ ... looks like it had Sophos Control Center installed. Is SUM the only Sophos component in Programs and Features? SEC can be used to upgrade from SCC 4.0.1 and 4.1, but if - as you suspect - it hasn't been removed correctly this likely won't work. SUM version 1.4.2.186 is the current version and from November last year so once had an earlier version is not that far in the past.

If SUM is the only component and there are no traces of SCC (or SEC) in the program folders you could try the Microsoft Fix-It tool (Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled) - but I'd recommend a clean environment (i.e. rebuilding the server if possible). You don't have a management server (SCC or SEC) at the moment?
