sophos protection updating failed

I am getting this updating failed status on my sophos anti-virus client.

from the update logs, it says cannot contact server.

what should I do ??

  • Does not connect to server.  I don't understand why it was updating fine in the past and now it can't.

    • I haven't changed servers (google) and am not a business. 
    • I once fiddled around and got it to update the last time, but can't remember why it worked and can't figure it out again.  I've done everything the help menu suggests.
    • I now have 6 errors after scanning my computer and don't know what to do about them. 
    • I don't know when my Sophos account was paid last, but never received a message that it was expiring or anything.

    So, why is this suddenly happening? How do I rectifiy each situation?
