Proxy Functionality Question regarding credentials.

If left blank does the proxy  just pass through windows credentials?

I need one policy that uses the Sophos update address to have a proxy defined, (VPN Machines) and the other not to have to defined (Laptops in the field). Question pertains to how to address the credentials field. Do I need an account created specifically for this, or does sophos use windows authentication if not defined?

    Hello LoXodonte,

    AutoUpdate runs as Local System (as it has to work without a user logged in; in addition - if multiple users are logged on which credentials should it use?). Thus if the proxy requires credentials you have to explicitly add them (and likely you'd create an account specifically for this purpose).
