Uninstalling Sophos Endpoint

I am responsible for a number of standalone machines which have Sophos Endpoint Security and Control installed. One particular machine wont complete the installation wizard throwing up an error message of :-

The installed product does not match the installation source(s). Until a matching source is provided or the installed product and source are synchronised, this action cannot be performed.

Despite browsing to what I believe to be the correct source it says it cannot be found. I've tried to unistall the application through the Add/Remove Programs function to start from scratch but then am confronted with a message

Error 3005 Sophos Anti-Virus can only be uninstalled by users that are members of the Spohos Administrators user group.

I've followed the advice in the forums on here to ensure that I'm a member of tha grpup but I still cant unintsall it.

Help please - patience wearing thin.

    Hello vidal,

    it's normally not worth determining the exact reason for the problems (there seems to be more than one). I suggest you try Using the Microsoft Fix-It Tool in the Troubleshooting and resolving ... article. Please note that you have to install the product afterwards, reboot if necessary. Whether you want to keep it or not,  now uninstall it through Add/Remove Programs and then do the final (re-)install.
