Virus data release = Mon 10 Dec 2012 12:00:00 AM

  • Hello circuit,

this is a UNIX/Linux version. I'm not sure what you mean by exact same copy  and what your development purpose is. The Last update you quoted suggests that automatic updates are enabled on this installation. Thus another install performed the same way as this one will likely be "the same".

  • Hi,

Our PHP Application deal with large number of files and because of the nature of files we need high security, but has to keep response time in check. So need that copy of SOPHOS to simulate web server for our development purpose.

    Thanks

  • Hello circuit,

as said, just install it like on the other machine (someone has to remember :smileywink: - if no one else then your site's Sophos administrator).

  • Hi,

    What about the Licence issues.

And can you please give me the download location and steps to follow to install it on Ubuntu Server 12.10

    Thanks

  • Hello circuit,

can't speak for Sophos, but as long as it is not "production" there won't be any licensing issues (which would BTW only "legal" ones as there is no technical enforcement). To download please go to the downloads section http://www.sophos.com/en-us/Sophos/Support/Downloads.aspx (it requires your license credentials), you'll also find links to the documentation. Anyway - whoever set up the production system should be able to give you the necessary information.

  • Hi,

    1) You'll need to contact Sales or Support to get a licence for your machine; I'm not sure if you can get a licence for development.

    2) Ubuntu 12.10 isn't a supported platform, so Sophos Anti-Virus may or may not work.

    3) Kernel 3.5 is only supported by Talpa 1.14.0 and above, so you'll need to use SAV 9.1 to get on-access scanning.

    4) SAV 7 is in retirement phase, you would probably be better off using SAV 9.

    5) A new minor version is released each month; so using a fixed version won't match real machines' usage.

    6) IDEs are released every few hours so the number of detected viruses will change every few hours.
