  • From the upgrade guide:

    Upgrading involves the following steps.
    ■ Check the system requirements.
    ■ Check the accounts you need.
    ■ Download the installers.
    ■ Upgrade Enterprise Console (and optionally NAC Manager).
    ■ Check your existing policies.
    ■ Upgrade endpoint computers.
    ■ Upgrade the Compliance Dissolvable Agent (optional).
    ■ Set up encryption software on endpoint computers (optional)

  • Thank you for your response.

    Check the system requirements.

Where can I see requirements in details?

Do I need .NET Framework 3.5?

    How much memory? 2GB?

I was searchin through site, I didn't find system requirements directly connected

    to Enterprise Console 5.1.

    Thanks once more.

  • Hello NikolaFBA,

rather than searching through the site one should start at the Resource and Upgrade Centers (from the Support dropdown menu),  in you case the Endpoint Resource Center . Near the top you'll find a link to the general System Requirements page and there under Endpoint Protection the .Enterprise Console (inc. integrated Sophos NAC). Note also the Upgrade Center tab in the Resource Center. As far as specific software requirements (like .NET) are concerned most if it comes with the installer. The built in Upgrade Advisor - which runs at the beginning of the install - will tell you if something's missing which isn't included in the installer.

  • Thank you!

If the link in NAC is not available when you press on it in Enterprise Console

than it means it is not installed although it is shown in Menu on left side of Console?

I thought to start upgrade end see what are system requirements as you write,

but Console is installed on domain controler therefore i want to avoid as much

problems as it possible. http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/endpoint/endpoint-protection/components/management-console/system-requirements.aspx  I ask you about NAC because of 2 GB*

written for * Additional memory and disk capacity required for installation of NAC Manager

Server where Console is installed is Windows Server 2003 and R2. I also found that

.NET framework is included in  Enterprise Console 5.1 upgrade. What about Console 4.5.1.0

database in SQL Server. I need to back it up?

    Thanks once more.

  • Hello NikolaFBA,

it is not installed although it is shown in Menu on left side of Console?

the references to NAC are there even if it is not installed, that's correct. Do you intend to use it? The number with the asterisk applies to installation with NAC.

Console is installed on domain controler

Not the best place - is your database on the same machine or remote? If the latter then please read How to install the Sophos Management Database component on to a different (remote) computer for additional instructions.

I need to back it [the database] up?

Although the upgrade process doesn't write to the "old" database always back up your database before upgrading. And - you should perform regular backups anyway.
