SAV Version 10 End of Life Alert

Have been getting Alcknowledment Alerts from SEC. Warning that Version 10 is EOL soon and to update the Subscription from 10 to Reccommened. When I've checked SEC the update Subscription doesn't show Version 10 just Reccomended - Windows .....

SEC Version 5.2.x

OS: Windows Server 2011

I've messaged Sophos Support but also I need to get into the habit of messaging here to learn more about issues and Sophos. I couldn't replicate the Alert, probably clicked don't warn again.

Does this mean, not seeing Version 10, that I can disregard the warning?

  • Yes, if you're on 'Recommended' you can disregard the alert.  It refers to version 10.0, which goes EOL at the end of December this year.  The 'Recommended' subscription gives you 10.3, which is the current version (assuming Enterprise Console is up to date as well...  ideally it should be 5.2.2).

  • This is good to know. I'm new to Sophos Enterprise Console, and also came across this message.

So, is it usual practise for Sophos to advise a product is going EOL via Sophos Messenger, even if that version of the product isn't installed in the environment?

If so, it's a shame the alert isn't a bit more targeted, as this alert could cause undue concern, or equally be disgarged without correct due diligence.
