*.$$$ file get created in /tmp directory on linux servers

We are facing a issue *.$$$ file get created in /tmp directory on linux servers causing disk space issues.
Is there any way where we can change this /tmp directory to some other directory, example /home/sophos-tmp-directory
We don't want to set environment variable as mention below.

  • Hello nare700,

change this /tmp directory ... don't want to set environment variable

what's wrong with an environment variable, what else would you prefer?

The other question is - why does /tmp run out of space. It's used when archive files are scanned and the .$$$ files should get removed after the scan has finished. Are you scanning excessively large archives or are the temporary files left behind?
