Sophos v10 .bpl increased scanning time?!

Hi All,

Currenly performing some investigation into a 3rd party application performance issue, any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

For this particular application setup the client will request a number of files  (.bpl) from the server when initially launching and for certain functionality.

It has been identified that Sophos seems to be taking an unusually large time to scan these specific files, this issue has only manifested itself within the last few weeks (from late October, approx 23rd onwards)

Can anyone confirm was a major Sophos change (e.g.defination/threat criteria etc) pushed out around this date which could be causing the increased scanning time?  So far we have been eliminating other potential environmental causes, if anyone can shed any light or suggest potential ways forward to resolve that again be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Daniel

  • Hello Daniel,

I'd suggest you call Support - .bpl is not an extension normally scanned. Note that Sophos doesn't rely on just the name/extension but tries to determine the nature of the file and its contents. So guess only the Labs can tell what's special about these files.
