Exclude from Real Time Scans

Hello,

Is there a way to exclude the running process (not the file on disk) from having its read and write activities scanned? The backup agent actually reads TB of data and sends it to the backup server so it causes a bottleneck on our larger servers. I have gone through the Endpoint Console but can only find ways to exclude drives, folders, and/or files.
