firewall disabled?

Hi,

after a reboot in the course of a Windows vista update my sophos (as well as the windows security center) gives a warning that the sophos firewall is disabled.

Nevertheless, the corresponding boxes that allow for all trafic in the endpoint control - firewall configuration are not ticked.

However, it seems from the protocol files that the firewall is still active and blocking the tasks and actions I didn't allow previously.

Updating the sophos endpoint seems possible, but does not change the situation.

No viruses or maleware was detected recently and a scan with windows defender is also negative.

Any suggestion or known problems.

Thanks in advance

  • Hello hef888,

the original post is two and a half years old and about SESC/SCF on Windows Vista. Arguably you can call your issue the same problem.

    hearing something from Sophos

this is a community forum - if you want to assure to hear something from Sophos please contact Support and open a ticket.

Otherwise - how did the firewall tell you that all traffic is allowed? You'd get the pop-up with the black-on-yellow exclamation mark when the firewall service is restarted (for whatever reason). The System Log in the SCF Log Viewer should have corresponding entries and also indicate the current status. The events shown with the Blocked and Allowed filters should identify whether indeed all traffic is allowed or not.
