Application server is very slow

We have a new -built server --2008 r2 runnning FileMaker Pro applications. 4 CPU and 6 GB memory , a lot of disk spaces

It is very slow. I am suspicious that sophos accessing on demand caused the problem but I am not familiar with sophoes (More familiar with SEPT) so I would like others input and help about sophos accessing on demand scan... we have job schedulers run from 11pm to 5am but it takes forever to complete it.

Any suggestions and input is greatly appreciated.

  • Hello Ginger8990,

I fear I don't quite get the picture, I understand the slow part but not what you mean by accessing on demand scan. Perhaps we're not using the same terminology. To clarify: On access is the "real time" component, e.g. an open for read is intercepted, the files is scanned and the access either permitted or denied. On demand refers to scans of specific parts of a file system initiated by a user.

Do you have On-access scanning enabled (FileMaker recommends to exclude the databases from real-time scanning)  and if, what are your settings? Is the server generally slow or is it only the performance of the nightly jobs (what jobs)?
