Sophos scans file over a network

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help.  I am new to this forum.  I have Sophos installed on my machine and I am trying to access a web application called DB Authorise.  The Issue I am getting is that Sophos will not allow read access to a file that is locatied on a specific UNC path.  The server is called DBAuth and the path is \\DBAuth\DBAuthorise\DBAuth.dat.

It is that specific file (DBAuth.dat) that we dont want Sophos to scan, however we cannot seem to exclude anything that has a UNC path.  The only thing that works is if we disable on-access scan.

Regards,

Jon Ditchfield

  • Hello Jon,

wrong board - I don't think this applies to SafeGuard (the posts might get moved) :smileywink:

Now if Sophos denies access it usually tells you why - Sophos is not arbitrarily blocking files and you shouldn't exclude them without assessing the reason. The Anti-Virus log will give the details (along with the path in effect at the time of detection - which is not necessarily the original one).

Once the reason for the detection is known there might be ways other than excluding it from scanning to allow the file to be used.
