 Hi,

I mentioned on another thread that we are running a small network ( 5 endpoints) and trialing Sophos endpoint ( unmanaged). Each endpoint would access the internet independently to update Sophos definitions. Is it possible to avoid/switch off  the folders animation when checking for updates ?

  • You mean when you click this...

    update_now1.png

    ....you see this...

    update_now2.png

That only appears if you manually check for updates.  Automatic updates (that start because it's been 60 minutes since the last update (or whatever schedule you set)) don't show the window.

You can close the window down with the usual red cross X and the download/install will not be affected.

There isn't a way to prevent that dialog from loading during a manual update nor prevent the opening of it by a user with this...

    update_now3.png

    ...if they choose to.

Is this causing a particular problem?

  • Hi ruckus,

Yes you are right - that is what I meant.

I didn't realise that the window only displayed on a manual update or enquiry - I mistakenly presumed it had not displayed on the 60 min autoupdate because there happened to be no new file whilst I was monitoring .

Thank you for clarifying - and no there is no particular problem  in that case.
