Moving Macs to a place where they can get updates in an automated way.

Good morning.  We are running the Sophos Enterprise Console v. 5.2.0.644.  We are installing our Macintosh clients using the standalone installer built on the console.  When it finishes running, the Mac devices end up in the Unassigned group.  This causes a problem for us because they have no "AutoUpdate" settings.  And we run Cisco's Network Access Control which checks AV definitions before allowing network access.  

Is there any way to move a Macintosh to a group that can receive a policy?  Using scripting in the installer?  Or some other method?  The Windows machines get moved just fine- but not the Macs.

Thank you for any thoughts or advice you may have.  I sent this up to support and they said I could not do this.  But I thought this group might have worked around this issue in some way.
