We're noticing that our web performance is very slow and its not our internet connection. It seems like name resolution is taking too long, but its not our DNS server as its very quick. It looks like Sophos is looking up domains and hosts and checking them against a blacklist when you visit a page, but that is taking several seconds per domain. Anyone else experiencing this? I'd hate to shut off the web protection feature, but right now that might be our only fix.
I contacted support and they just gave me a list of servers Sophos uses to get its blacklist. Every single host in that list resolved to absolutely nothing (I tried google dns to make sure it wasnt us and same results). I told the support guy that their DNS records are bad for those hosts but he didn't seem to understand.
Any ideas?
