Enterpise Console and Web Control

Just getting our Enterpise Console and Web Control operational.  Up to about 30 computers now in testing and so far it works far better than expected.  Our Web appliance VM is working great.  So with that being said, i'm setting up some off site desktops that connect back to use through a VPN tunnel.  I want their AV to be filtered using the policies of our Web Control Appliance.  I've went in and enabled this option, got my key generated from the web control and applied it to the console.  I've deployed a couple of stations and they read "Inactive" under the web control status.  I've double checked my settings and they are using the correct policies as well. 

Is this normal, shouldnt it read something else?

    Hello Greg,

    just a guess - might be an issue with the LSP (what's your VPN software?). Please check the status of the Web Control (and Web Intelligence) services - if they are not running, do you get an error when you try to start them?

    We're using Cisco firewalls to establish the VPN tunnels.  As for the web control server and intelligence service they are running.  Only one that isnt is intelligence update service.  Should this one be on?

    Intelligence Update only runs when SWI has to be updated.

    I assume SEC displays Differs from policy under Web Control (and the Last message time is recent). Does the local GUI show Web Control as enabled - and if, can you verify whether it's actually working or not (shouldn't be too hard to find a site classified as Adult/Sexually Explicit :smileywink:)?

    If nothing obvious is found it might be necessary to trace the Agent (policy processing) and/or Web Intelligence/Web Control - but before calling Support I'd connect one of the clients to the local LAN.
