Error 'Could not find a source for updated packages’’

We have recently installed Sophos anti virus. For few client machines 'Updating has failed' error mesage is coming.

Please suggest what to do.

Also suggest what is the remedy for below error messages :

1.) Adware found : For few cases adware found in C:/Windows / System32 file.

2.) Error message – ‘‘‘‘The on access driver has failed to perform a action on file device/hardisk/ volume

3.) Alert – ‘‘‘‘G:/ Autorun.inf’’’’ could not be removed.

4.) For one machine message ' Differs from policy’’’’ message is coming.

  • Hello Anubhav,

give a man a fish and you feed him for a day ...

it's not that I don't want to do it (and if I count correctly you're asking for at least five of them). Except for perhaps 3) there are no simple answers (other than rather general ones which would raise more questions).

    • With respect to 4) please see the Console Help. It briefly explains what it signifies and how to commonly deal with it
    • Similar for 1). As the remedy depends on your policies (and of course the specific Adware found) I fear you'll have to obtain at least some knowledge about this topic. BTW - the Glossary of Terms and the Threatsaurus are probably worth at least a glance
    • 2) might have an associated error code and/or additional text. Often these errors are transient and can safely be ignored. Recurring errors should be analyzed
    • Updating has failed can have many causes. I suggest that for a start you take a look at An endpoint computer fails to update.
    • Finally 3) - the drive letter suggests it could be a removable medium. As CDs/DVDs are usually R/O it's no wonder the offending file could not be removed

You should read the documentation - it does help to get familiar with the product. Also IMO it pays off to do some (re-)search on ones own (in this forum as well as the Knowledgebase). Last but not least you can always turn to Support (especially for urgent problems.
