0x80070005 after being hit by Shh/Updater-B

Hi guys,

I got hit by the bad IDE file "AGEN-XUV" which causes 3000 machines of our cutomer to failed in the updating.

When we tried to restart the affected machines we encountered error 0x80070005 and the clients are not updating.

We also tried to reinstall/re-Protect the affected machines but the installation stops abnormally.

Some addt'l info:

Ent Console 5.0

SAV 10

3000 nodes

Hope you can help me on this.

Regards,

Adolfsden

  • Hello Adolfsden,

guess the AutoUpdate service fails to start (likely the exe has been moved/deleted). Reinstall probably fails as it sees the product installed and tries to remove the supposedly existing components.

You could try to copy the missing files from ...\CIDs\Snnn\SAVSCFXP\sau\program files\Sophos\AutoUpdate (leave out the subfolders) to the %ProgramFiles\Sophos\AutoUpdate folder. Turn of on-access scanning (or SavService) first. I've posted this here.
