  • Hi,

Is there a problem with their creation or deletion?

If they are being left beind (they should be deleted and they are safe to delete), I would suggest you zip them up and send them to support, with any information around what was going on at the time they were created if you know.

Looking at the contents it would be possible to work out what sort of file was being unpacked at the time to help narrow down what could be causing it.

If you can re-create a temp file being created and not deleted I would suggest running Process Monitor at the time to check file level events at the time.

    Regards,

    Jak

  • Hello Bullseye,

according to Sophos Anti-Virus: the Sophos Temp directory is full of $$$ files (:smileytongue: a variant of the Bowman Discovery :smileytongue:) these are created during archive scans but should be removed unless the scan is forcibly terminated. Are they causing troubles?

  • Thanks for you replies, we have an issue with student PC's that the local hard drive is filling up due to the creation of .$$$ files and I was looking to see if there was any way of disabling the creation of these files.

  • Hello Bullseye,

the local hard drive is filling up

during normal operation (on-access) or when a scheduled scan is running? Is scan inside archives enabled?
