Malware uncleanable

i've got this keygen zipped file in my computer. from the management console it shows it as a malware/keygen type but the status is uncleanable.

i went to the location of the file and double-clicked it. the AV client in my computer intercepted and moved it to quarantine. however, i can still the file there where i kept it.

i don't understand this behaviour of sophos.

  • Hello Rino,

please generally post as many details as possible for such queries, often it's hard to give meaningful advice without knowing them.

Archives are often uncleanable as cleanup would require the archive to be rebuilt which might simply not be possible.

    moved it to quarantine

It's an unfortunate term - especially considering there is move to [default location]. Quarantining never moves files - it just puts the detection details on a list so that you later can get more information, decide on and take appropriate action. That an item is in quarantine also has no effect on subsequent scanning or detection.
