Sophos on Windows 2012 Core

I am currently evaluating Sophos Endpoint Security. I am slightly confused regarding support for Windows 2012 Core.

Some documents say that Sophos AV for Windows supports Windows 2012 Core, whereas the document for Sophos Endpoint Security says that core editions are not supported.

I would assume that it is the exact same Sophos AV for Windows that gets deployed when I do it through the console, yet I have tried to deploy it through the console and it's all gone horribly wrong when I deployed it to a Windows 2012 Core

So, what sort of support is there for Windows 2012 Core?

Do I manually need to install the AV agent on a Windows 2012 Core machine?

If so, does that mean it cannot be managed through the console?
