non internet update

I have searched every way I could think of but I can not locate a resolution:

I have a windows XP machine that is NOT connected to internet. It has Sophos installed and used to update automatically upon boot. Since I disconnected the PC keeps complaining about the antivirus not having an update. I tried to manually copy the .ide files to the installation but I still get warnings from XP.

How do I update sophos? Or, how do I convince XP's security center I have updated ?

edit: found /search?q= 48110 and I do not understand a single word said in that thread...

  • Hello novw,

I do not understand a single word

... of more than 1000 - as a picture is worth a thousand words (but this is from before animated GIFs so it might be significantly more) :smileytongue:. Ruckus' post is rather succinct and the preliminary steps are not part of the animation:

    • go to a connected and up-to-date machine
    • locate the cache folder (Vista+: C:\ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Cache\, XP: C:\Program Files\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Cache\)
    • copy it to a removable medium and then to a folder (Desktop in ruckus' example) on the disconneted machine

The rest is shown in the animation:

    • Configure updating with the path to the copy as address
    • tell it to update
