Error Starting Sophos Management Service 0x80040300

I installed a new SUM on remote server with enterprise console was open

Console crashed

System.InvalidOperationException: Exceeded maximum recursion depth while constructing update hierarchy tree.

Rebooted server, now Sophos Management Service wont start

    Hello Gizmo,

    you didn't say in detail which steps led to this situation. Can only guess what might have happened - you installed the SUM and it did correctly appear in SEC. After that you configured the new SUM and then it happened?

    Might be best to call Support. But perhaps the following helps you to be able to open the console again: Enterprise Console won't open with error 0x80040300. While it's for 4.0 and decribes a different error it could remove the "offending" newly created SUM (you'd have to use SOPHOS51 instead of SOPHOS4 for the database and replaceWithMachineNameMentionedInPopupError is replaceWithMachineNameOfAddedSUM :smileyhappy:.
