Monitoring Sophos Enterprise Console

Hi All

We are currently installing Solarwinds to monitor all servers and Applications as it gives a single view of all the alerts that we need to look at. So my questions are:

1)  Is there an offical Sophos Solarwinds template as i can only find 1 template which someone created to monitor 2 services on all end points, Which i have modified to cover all sophos services.

2) is there any way in monitoring or getting the data from Enterprise Console to alert in Solarwinds either via SNMP / WMI / PerfMon etc as we spend more time in front of the solarwinds console then the Sophos Console so moving the alerts to a single pannel makes alot of sence.

thank-you in advance for any replies.

  • HI,

To get an answer from Sophos you're best off creating a Support ticket (http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/contact-support.aspx):  To the best of my knowledge there isn't a Solarwinds template.

Beyond monitoring the Sophos Service for being started, you could create a certificate check to port 8194.  Not so much to check if the certificate has expired becasue it has at least 20 years to run but to test that the router is servicing requests correctly.  This will ensure that you have visibility on the messaging system working or at least being responsive.

The offical interface into SEC for external reporting in the Sophos Reporting Interface (http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/downloads/console/sophos-reporting-interface.aspx).  This can either be direct SQL queries to the views or you can install the logwriter service which essentially dumps to text files.

Can SolarWinds query a SQL Server Instance?  If so that's you're best interface.

    Regards,

    Jak
