Remote Management System not installing

Question

I have a Windows XP computer on which I installed SAV (I have downloaded the files from the Sophos Website). Install goes well, finally managed to set it up so it auto updates.

However, the Remote Management System does not install at all. The directory is not even created under C:\Program Files\Sophos\Remote Management System. I have followed the steps in KB 26408 (http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/26408.aspx), with no success. I have attempted to check the MSI logs, but none of those are created.

Are there any other ways to install RMS, or more trouble shooting steps I can take?

Hello Jon, the packages downloaded from the website are the standalone installers - as the name implies it is not expected that the computer is managed and therefore RMS is not included. Furthermore, there is no interface to configure RMS from the endpoint. Thus if you want to manage a computer you must install Sophos from a CID maintained by the server (or an installer package created from this CID). HTH Christian :40619
