non-stop requests for checksum approval

I am running my Windows 7 box most of the time in a non-admin account. Sophos, even for apps like Google Chrome, asks dozens of times for a checksum approval. It gets really frustrating when even typing an address into the address bar results in 5 checksum approval requests for EACH letter I type!

What is going on? chrome.exe is in the checksum list already, and is listed as an "authorized" browser.

Is it seriously thinking the app has changed because the address cache file is being updated?

  • Hello ColinMc,

only SophosAdministrators can add/replace a checksum (see here). So for every connection request (isn't it great that each letter is sent as you type it?) you are asked again. Likely the current checksum does not match the one on the list due to an update since the checksum has been configured. The current checksum can be seen in the Firewall Log -> Events -> New or modified application.
