Web Events

I am having an issue with the Web Events. It appears that when users go to MSN or CNN, they get a Facebook event. It doesn't pop up as any kind of plugin but a straight www.facebok.com event.

Is there a way to prevent this from showing up this way?

  • Hello CrossedRubicon,

I'm not sure what you call a (straight) Facebook event (BTW: I think you've misspelled the URL - one of the os is missing)? You are using Full Web Control and blocking Facebook in your policy?

  • Those Os are always rolling away.

I am refering to a "straight" Facebook event as for example if I was to open up MSN, I get a web event that shows up as www.facebook.com not facebook.com/plugin.blahblahblah. There is also no refering URL so it is impossible to check from the console if the person was trying to access facebook or just opening their web browser. I have tried checking changing the home page to something like google.com and there isn't an event. So my thinking it has to do with the facebook linking that MSN & CNN have, I would just love a way to be able to tell the difference between the 2 sites.

  • Hello CrossedRubicon,

I see what you mean. A quick test suggests that alerts from IFRAMEs often don't have a referring URL. Dunno how the LSP and the browser work though. Might be that the LSP (Web Control) simply doesn't "see" this information. You might get an answer from Sophos here - but it's probably better to contact Support.
