Using Ad Sync to install sophos but how to auto install sophos after a machine has bee reimaged

Hi just wondering if anyone could shed any light on this issue

we have sophos 5.2 linked to our ad domain when a new machine gets imaged it sycns with ad and installs sophos fine.

The issue seems to be when we reimage a device it keeps its hostname but then relinks with the old object and does not install sophos.

Also i would like to know if its possible to have sophos check if the antivirus is installed and if not install it as if the install fails first time thats it nothing else happens unless you click protect computers

any advice or help would be great

  • Hello kkoolkev,

Automatic Protection is attempted only once for a given endpoint (whether it fails or succeeds), there are some threads about it in this board.

Also i would like to know if its possible to have sophos check if the antivirus is installed

You might want to read Deploying Endpoint Security and Control through Active Directory group policy. Amending the script to not retry the install in case it fails the first time would be a simple exercise. Note that it might fail because there is competition for the Installer - in this case a later Protect Computers from SEC will likely succeed, in the others you'd anyway have to determine the cause for the failure before attempting Protect
