Sophos Endpoint Protection Install Error

When I go to install Endpoint Protection onto a Server 2008 x86 (non R2) SP2 machine i get the following error.

"You have to run Windows XP with at least ServicePack 2 or Windows Vista with at least ServicePack 1 or Windows 7 to install this package"

This doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me or my colleges so thought I might ask here.

Background info:

Fresh server 2008 x86 SP2 install

Most current updates installed.

Tried deploying from the Sophos Enterprise Console and by installing the Sophos Client Preinstall msi and the SGNClient msi but get the same error.

Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks,

Keith

  • Hello Keith,

this is SafeGuard, i.e. encryption - and this is not supported on a server OS. Admittedly the message could be clearer here, but if you read it carefully it's obvious that no server OS is mentioned.
