How to temporary disable on access scan on a workstation / option is grey (deactivated)

Hi all,

I just deployed Endpoint Protection Basic to our W7 and XP-clients.  We also run management console on a server 2008R2.  It works so far.  On occasion I need to deactivate the local on access scan to prevent interference with AUTODESK software installation.

I'm logged on as a domain administrator.  Allthough domain-admins are member of the local group "SophosAdministrator", I can't temporarily disable the on access scan.

Of course I could deactivate the entire feature for all clients from the mc.  But there's certainly a way to do so on a local machine.

Any hints are appreciated.

Best, Mike

  • Hello Mike,

if in the local GUI you click View product information (bottom left) you see the General/Current user rights near the top - this just to make sure the group membership isn't the cause.

Is Tamper Protection enabled? This is indicated by many of the items on the Home page being grey and under Tamper protection only Authenticate user active.
