Endpoint Protection Spam filters need adjusting

I have legitimate e-mails that have gotten marked as spam, and yet a large number of Spam and Phishing e-mails get through just fine. How best to deal with this? I have whitelisted the legitimate originators, but I would love to know what caused them to get blocked. How do I "submit" the actual Spam and Phishing e-mails to "improve" the filters?

Honestly the Spam blocking abilities of Sophos EP are worse than the Amavisd setup that I replaced, but Sophos is easier for non-Linux gurus to administer, so I would really like to see it improve!

Which Email product are you using, the Email Appliance, the PureMessage for Linux, or the PureMessage for Exchange.

If you are using the PureMessage for Exchange, i would recommend reviewing the routing configurations. If the routing is not done correctly, it may not scan inbound mails for spam, it may see them as internal. (The first or second page in the help file in the program explains in detail how it works)

If you are using the Email appliance, i would recommend reviewing the connection configurations and upstream trusted relays as adding more than what is required will prevent correct scanning of mails and influence the spam score.

if you are using the PureMessage for Linux, what version are you on, and when last did you do an update?

Once we know which program we can assist further.

    Have an excellent day :)
