Hi,
when I set up a new message relay on 2008R2, I discovered that configcid.exe does not programmatically request extended priviliges.
On 2008R2, the cids and the warehouse are below c:\programdata\sophos . These folders are only writeable as an administrator.
On machines with user account control, just starting cmd.exe without "run as administrator" will result in a process with user rights. Configcid.exe does not recognize this condition. Although it is not able to update master.upd and cidsync.upd, it will report success. The written files will be in the sandbox in the administrator's profile, and will therefore not get delivered to client pcs.
If you start the cmd-shell with "run as administrator", configcid.exe works just fine.
Best regards,
Detlev
