Help. Install not completing correctly

Hi,

Wonder if anyone can help me. Finally the SEC server has been updated to 5.0 in preperation to upgrade to 10.0 from 9.5. After the upgrade I'm checking if everything is working correctly and notice my WSUS server (2008 R2) is showing as disconnected. I check the message router service is running. The server is still updating correctly. This appears to the same problem on other machines, although I can't find a pattern and there isn't many like this.

I then try and reprotect server; the installation task runs but doesn't install the RMS componenet. I can't understand why I can't find the RMS logs or the update config folder like I can on an XP machine. This problem is now preventing me from performing a test upgrade to endpoint 10.

I've had problems in the past with XP clients not performing an installation correctly by not updating the update path. In those cases I have to manually copy a working iconn file over to the problem machine and it then updates correctly and installs RMS.

My initial install source is set to use the primary server which points to UNC path \\servername\SophosUpdate\

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

  • Hello Mike,

I can't find the RMS logs or the update config folder like I can on an XP machine

For Vista+ (yes, so it applies to Windows 7 and Server 2008 and above) the folders you are looking for are under %ProgramData%\Sophos (a hidden folder), anything below that should be familiar (AutoUpdate from XP Programs and the rest from All.Users).
