The on-access driver failed to determine the new name for file %2

Hi all,

We are receiving the following errors on our Windows 2003 R2 file servers (yes we will be upgrading them soon :-). We are using DFSR for file share replication.

Has anyone seen this before? The dfsrprivate folder is excluded from the on-access scanning as I thought this may be the cause.

    On the affected DFS Storage Server, as a test can you:

    1. Check if Data Control is currently enabled?
    2. Disable Data Control and see if the error still occurs.
      Note:       . This is not a permanent solution if Data Control is required on a DFS server, however Data Control is generally not required on servers in typical usage scenarios.

    If this resolves the problem error you could keep Data Control off for the DFS server(s) by having a new group with a different policy.  Or we can troubleshoot further - we would probably need a memory dump from the computer (open a case with Support for guidance of the type required and steps).

    Where is 'Data Control' set? I cannot see this anywhere in the DFS management console.

    Hello Paul,

    :smileytongue: probably not a high pririty problem considering the time of your initial post :smileywink:

    Data Control is a component of SESCwith its own policies (like AV, Device Control and so on) - if you're looking for it in DFS you likely don't use it.

    Thus you should open a case with Support.

    Hi,

    I am having the same problem here. However i do not appear to have "data control" policy available in the SEC. 

    I am running "sohos endpoint security - business" perhaps its nat a part of this product. IF so what should i do about the error.

    This is for my win 2003 servers which do form part of a DFS cluster.

    Any help much appreciated.
