Google Chrome

Hi,

Currently we use data control policies in SEC 4.5 with 9.5.5. Endpoints to monitor all data transfer to removable and optical media. This featre is a fantastic way of monitoring data transfer in the business. However, we are now looking at widening this control policy to include all data uploads in web browsers to cloud storage sites. Web filtering blocks most of these sites, but certain websites have been identified as required for a business use.

On the network there are approx 95% hosts running IE 8; some privilaged users are running Chrome and Firefox. I have been testing a new data control policy to detect all file uploads to IE 8 and Firefox V7, so far this has worked brilliantly. However, there are a few users with Chrome (myself included), and Sophos doesn't seem to support the Chrome browser in the data control policy settings.

Is there any plan for Google Chrome to be supported in the near future? Otherwise, the only option I can see is forcing users of Chrome to use Firefox or IE.

Cheers

Mike

  • I have recently installed Sophos on my home computer running windows 10. Now I find that I cannot use Google Chrome even though it is on the approved list in the firewall. Are there any fixes to allow Chrome to work with this combination.

  • Hi

Are you still experiencing issues with Windows 10 and Chrome?

    Regards,

  • Could you also tell me if you are running the business or home editions of Sophos Anti-Virus?
  • Hi Robert

I am also having a problem accessing the internet since the Windows 10 update occurred. I have Sophos Endpoint Security and Control Version 10.6.  Upon opening Chrome I get the error message "Your Internet access is blocked, Firewall or antivirus software may have blocked the connection", then when clicking on Diagnose Errors it says, "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer".  I briefly turned off the firewall, opened the internet and it came up as normal and I was able to use Chrome.  I turned the firewall back on and the access was again blocked.  I don't get a prompt to add checksums like I used to for new applications before the upgrade.  I would be grateful for any recommendation to solve this.

    Thanks
