Upgrading to SEC 5_21 from 5_1 with SQL 2008 R1

I am unable to upgrade to 5.21 because of the DB restrictions. We are currently licenced for SQL 2008 R1 in our cluster and upgrading to SQl 2008 R2 or higher will have serious licencing costs for us which will make using this product prohibitive. We had the same issues with other software we were using but a future servicepack permitted installing with the older DB version.

Is there a way to install and skip/bypass the DB prerequisites.?

There should be no issue with using SEC 5.2.1 with SQL 2008 R1, please see this KBA for detials of the database versions we support: http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/113278.aspx We do not specifically refer to R1, we just have "2008" on the list.

If this is a physical problem and you are having trouble upgradieng then please open a support case.
