Connection server lost after Sophos installation

Hi all,

Today installed sophos on my pc at work. After installtion I was requested some authorization questions regarding some services. I got five options. Something in the line of: allow&create new setting, allow&replace setting, block&new setting, block&allow setting, use setting... Choose the allow&new "setting" for all of them and think that this is were things went wrong.

Some things were not done right so I wanted to remove the programm to do it again. Unfortunately, I got an error 3005, that I was not allowed. However, I was already marked to have administrative rights.

Afterwards noticed that I completely lost connection to our general server. I am able to connect to the internet but not the server. So my guess is that Sophos cannot access the user settings and therefore I cannot remove the programm?

Could not find a similar problem so my apologies if something similar has been asked before. All help/tips are welcome. Many thanks in advance!

  • Hello Repelsteeltje,

I was requested some authorization questions

I'm not sure which program made these requests. While the  Sophos firewall gives you five options for an unknown application, they are allow this time, allow, block this time, block and create rule - not quite what you wrote (but maybe it was indeed SCF).

3005 is the error you usually get when Tamper Protection is enabled. This sounds like a managed installation with the respective policies centrally set.  It also doesn't sound - excuse me if I'm wrong - like you are the one who manages Sophos at your site, in which case you should ask your IT (as they are the ones who could tell how it's supposed to work).

Anyway, how did you install - using a package/script or by connecting to a share and running setup.exe? If the latter - which components did you select?

    Christian
