Upgrading from Sophos Enterprise Console 5.0.0.8 to 5.2.2

Question

I'm currently in the process of upgrading our Sophos Enterprise Console and have a quick question regarding the backup. Since I didn't install the console in the default location, I can't use the DataBackupRestore.exe program to backup.

So my question is how can I perform this backup manually? Where are the config files, account settings, registry settings located that require a backup when I'm performing the update?

Hi, If you're just performing an upgrade, I would suggest: 1. Export the Sophos Registry keys, i.e. HKLM\software\sophos HKLM\software\wow6432node\sophos Both on a b6-bit computer. 2. Exporrt the secret store. This is the secret store registry keys as an xml file.  It only really needs to be exported with a view to import it again as part of a server to server migration as you already have the registry keys from point 1 above which would be valid on the same computer. Just incase you do need to install on another computer, it's worth getting, to do so: DataBackupRestore.exe -Action=backup -ExcludeDB -datasourcetype=SecureStore http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/114299.aspx Note: you could still use this tool:  http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/111425.aspx to just export this info to XML. 3. Backup the databases ( http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/17323.aspx) of the version using backupdb.bat.  So SEC 5.0 only has  SOPHOS50, SOPHOSPATCH. Backupdb.bat C:\windows	emp\sophos50.bak .\sophos SOPHOS50 Backupdb.bat C:\windows	emp\ sophosPatch .bak .\sophos SOPHOSPATCH http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/110380.aspx With the above backed up you could always recover an install without the need to re-protect all the clients.
