Update Updating Policy

Can someone tell me if there is a way to force an update of our updating policy. We want to add our secondary location to our laptops that only connect to the LAN every few weeks so when they are connected i would like them to automatically update the secondary location that we have entered on the Enterprise Console.

Thanks in advance.

James

  • Hello James,

if they are connected for a sufficient period of time they should get or fetch the policy sooner or later. If the check in only infrequently it might never happen though.

If you policy is apt for general use (i.e. you have no Secondary or the same Secondary defined for LAN-only clients) you could configure the CID (please see Using ConfigCID.exe to implement XML configuration file changes) with an appropriate updating policy (in addition to setting it on the console). Thus they will definitely pick up the new policy the next time they update. Am I correct in assuming that right now they do not update when they are "outside"?
