Sophos and Network loss

Recently my company have started to roll out Sophos Anti-Virus, I have a small number of Viglen and Mesh Windows XP PC's when Sophos is installed networking fails and network drives and Internet access are not available. If I remove Sophos networking is available. Any ideas on why this should happen. I am happy to post any logs to further help my cause.

One of the first errors in the event log after Sophos was installed and the loss of the network was "The Windows Sockets version requested is not supported" and then found this Winsock XP Fix utility appears to have sorted the problem phew !!.
