Web filtering Time profile

Is it possible to have on Sophos Data Protection Suite somekind of Web filtering profile based on time?

For example, to have facebook blocked by web filtering during work hours, and allow it during luch time, and after work hour?

Best regards,

Paulo Silva

  • Hello Paulo,

with the Endpoint Web Control this is not possible. If you deploy a Virtual Web Appliance (which is AFAIK functionally identical to the hardware appliance) I assume you can use special hours policies (I have no experience with the appliance - this is just how I interpret the docs).

  • Hello Christian,

By what I see, Virtual Web Appliance isn't available on Sophos Data Protection Suite, so I would have to buy a new product just for this feature.

  • Hello Paulo,

    By what I see

where :smileyhappy:? It is listed as available for the DPS  [Edit] Paulos eyes are better than mine. Right, it is not checked for DPS [/Edit] in Sophos licenses and what components are included with each. But the definite answer should be given by your downloads page.

  • Hello,

Not part of Data Protection Suite. Thanks for the quick reply.

I think that this is a cool feature that could be added on the Web filtering component, since other vendors have it o similar products.

  • Sorry, Paulo. You are correct. I've edited my post accordingly.

Now as Web Control has been added to all but the Business (how I like those euphemisms - read basic) licenses practically for free you can't ask for yet another feature :smileywink:. Seriously - adding time profiles on the client side is perhaps not a minor change (and if it were to come it would perhaps make sense for Application Control as well).

Anyway, you should discuss this with your sales rep. Do you (intend to) use PureMessage for Unix/Email Appliance and/or Disk Encryption?
