Pushing Sophos to Windows 7 Professional Computers

Useful information

Server: MS Server 2008 R2

Sophos: Endpoint Security and Control

Client Computers: Windows 7 Professional SP1 32-bit

Good Afternoon,

I would like to know if there is an easy way of pushing the Sophos policy to workstations. We are new to Sophos, so we are unfamilar of the functions it entails. We currently installed Sophos on our server and it is looking pretty good. We have the Global Groups and Policies completed but when we try to push those policies to our Windows 7 computers, we have no luck. We are able to discover the computers by Active Directory which works like a charm. However, when we try to right-click and select Protect Computers...it is dimmed.

We were able to install the standalone installation but we do not want to do this for all 100 computers. Once installed, we try to select Protect Computers but it gave us a lot of issues. It would give us an error and indicate that it was because the computer was shut off.

If someone is aware of a way of pushing the policies to the computer within Sophos Enterprise that would be so wonderful and appreciative.

We have tried the following advice:

Thank you.

  • Not sure if you have fixed the issue yet, but in my experience when i had synchronize with active directory selected i wasnt able to individually select a computer, or a group of computers for that matter (when id right click "protect computers" was greyed out) until i deselected that feature. Then i was able to move them into the correct group that they belonged within the domain.
